ECOterra was formed in 2012 to develop and construct sustainable communities and homes built today with tomorrow in mind. Tammy McCarty, a finance consultant and entrepreneur has put together a team of very talented people to make this vision a reality. In 2012 Tammy was looking for the right person with the right mindset to get her idea off the ground. Kaye Marshall a long time custom green builder with a myriad of awards to her name joined ECOterra as lead designer and general contractor for the company. With 20 years of design & construction experience, Kaye also brings along highly skilled craftsmen and artisans to the team. Building green is not a slogan, it’s a lifestyle that Marshall has embraced her entire life. “Coming from a family of engineers, you learn conservation is the primary focus of energy usage”, Marshall says (she has degrees in Architecture and Civil Engineering). Michael Cecchini handles the sales and marketing for ECOTerra, LLC. Michael has spent 30+ years as a business executive and is also a licensed real estate broker. Jeanne Evans, a certified arborist handles ECOTerra’s site development and site management. Jeanne has worked with Kaye for the past 3 years. Bill Marshall has spent his entire career at Sandia National Labs and the National Renewable Energy Labs. Bill provides invaluable insight and consultation for current and emerging technologies that keeps ECOTerra at the leading edge of building.
Having the opportunity to develop communities from the ground up and making them sustainable for years to come is what ECOterra is all about says McCarty. We need to start thinking about leaving this planet in better condition than we came in to it! ECOterra, LLC is a member of the Home Builders Association of Central NM (HBA) and a member of the Green Build Council.

Forbes.com has named Albuquerque as the top market where home prices are likely to rise.
The city has experienced housing price declines since they peaked in the third quarter of 2007, and job growth has been flat. Housing starts are expected to drop by 45 percent through 2008, according to Forbes.
But Albuquerque is also a city about which homebuilders and economists are "bullish," writes Matt Woolsey, author of the Forbes.com article.
Moody's site Economy.com is projecting Albuquerque's job growth through 2012 to be 1.6 percent annually, fueled by low costs and local business expansion, according to Forbes. Housing starts are expected to grow here by 26.6 percent in 2009, according to the National Association of Home Builders.
In 2006, Forbes ranked Albuquerque as the Nation's Best City for Business and Careers. Earlier this year, the city was ranked 13th best in the nation for that same category.

"We love our Kayeman home. Kaye has that great combination of artistic flair in her architecture skills, and pragmatic civil engineering to make it all work! The home used our lot perfectly and met what we wanted in both form and function. Wonderful use of all the view angles; solidly built without "boxiness" (though Diane had to get used to not having square corners!); and "tight as a drum." The "green" features (solar collector, solar electric, ultra-insulated, etc) are good for the environment and the pocketbook (the cheapest operating costs of any of the many homes we've owned) while at the same time providing traditional Santa Fe style warmth and "homeyness."
And then when it came to the interiors, Kaye's team worked with us to make it just what we wanted . . . excellent work by her staff (designer and finish carpenter); great suppliers and installers (tile, cabinets, carpet, appliances, etc) as well as electrical, plumbing and painting to meet our every need and whim.
After living on both coasts and several places in between., this was to be our dream home for our golden years. . . thanks, Kaye--that's just what you built for us!"
"We fell in love with the land first. We would spend hours walking the lot, taking in the views, the plants and wildlife. When it came time to build, we wanted a builder who would build a house to fit the land rather than make the land fit the house.
Kaye Marshall spent time getting to know the land. The slope was quite a challenge, but instead of leveling it as many builders would do, she fit the house right into the slope. She captured views from almost every window, and created an indoor-outdoor feel, just as we requested. She had great ideas for us, but also listened to what was important to us.
While the house was being planned and later being built, Kaye was totally accessible. Because we lived in Maryland at that time and were building from a distance, we could count on Kaye to let us know whenever we should be there to view the work that had been done or assist in decisions that needed to be made.
We have been in our home for three years and still are excited about how well the house fits us. Kaye really did build our dream home."
We have been in our home now almost two years and are so pleased with all of the "green" features of our home.
The insulation of our home is wonderful. We especially notice how cool it remains even on the hottest summer days. It is very "airtight" and allows very little dust compared to our prior home, as well as almost no insects or other "critters". It also is exceptionally quiet from wind, outside noise, etc.
We have been very impressed with the efficiency of the solar photovoltaic system for electricity. In addition to receiving a check from PNM monthly for about $70-80, we haven't paid an electric bill since we moved in!
The Lyptus wood cabinets are beautiful and very durable and I would recommend them to anyone considering cherry or alder. They are similar in appearance with a little more variation of red/gold and also a hardwood, but a sustainable resource and very elegant.
In summary, we are delighted with our home, which won the Gold award for a "Green Home" for the Placitas Home Tour, and so are all of our friends and family who come to visit.
We wish you the best in your business endeavors in the future and would recommend you highly to anyone seeking a builder in this area."
